Women have a hard time understanding men just as they have a hard time understanding women.  In order to have a healthy relationship it takes the extra effort to get know each other and to understand each other.  It starts by breaking through stereotypical assumptions.  Here are a few tips that will help.

Sometimes it is easier to just stereo type each other than it is to understand each other.  Men don’t appreciate the stereo types any more than most women do.  So don’t assume because he is a guy he is helpless in the kitchen or that he can’t navigate.  Avoid the stereo type. Ask him questions and get to know him as an individual.  Listen to his responses too.

Next, get to know when he is flirting and just being friendly. How is he with others?  Watch his interaction with both men and women, you will be able to sum up his personality and decide if he is truly charming around you or just a really friendly guy with everyone.

Guys can be hesitant to express themselves. It’s important to allow him to express his feelings and emotions, but unless he feels comfortable he won’t be expressive.  Let him know he doesn’t have to be the tough guy and that it is ok for him to let down his guard around you.

Men aren’t always sure what your expectations are.  Like women they can make mistakes, misread something and make wrong choices especially if they have no clue where you stand.  Men are not mind readers, don’t expect them to be.  Show him what you want and what you expect. Once they understand they will be able to please you without hesitation.
