Ever wonder what it’s like to date a celebrity? While going out with Ryan Reynolds or Jennifer Aniston might sound like a dream, the idea of dating a celeb is often far better than the reality. Here’s why.
Famous folks are busy. They regularly fly across the country or world for work. They tour for months at a time. They’re contractually obligated to promote products and attend events. They have brutal shooting schedules. They spend hours at the gym to train for their next film or maintain a killer physique. The list goes on and on. For this reason, many celebs have no time for a relationship and choose to remain single. Celebs who find someone special are often forced to break up with their significant other simply because they have no time to spare. Can you handle competing for your loved one’s time and attention or only seeing him or her every few weeks?
Models, athletes, musicians, and movie stars obviously receive a lot more attention than the average Jack or Jane. Many celebrities have a tough time not letting the spotlight go to their head, and more than a few cheat on their significant other with an adoring groupie or a gorgeous celeb. Can you deal with an arrogant star? Are you secure enough to look past the legion of fans that will do almost anything to be with your famous lover or the beautiful stars he or she works with? There’s also the possibility that the press might zoom in on you. Could you handle the paparazzi speculating about your identity, analyzing your every flaw, and comparing you to the star’s ex lovers? These are the issues a celebrity’s significant other has to deal with.
It’s not just tough dating an international superstar. Local celebrities and D-list stars can be difficult to date as well. DJs, news anchors, reality stars, and small-time athletes and musicians often pose the same problems listed above, albeit on a smaller level.
It is possible to date a celebrity and have a happy, healthy relationship with him or her. However, if you’re thinking of dating someone famous be prepared for the unique issues that come with the star-studded territory.
