Ever wonder how different men and women truly are when it comes to sex, dating, and relationships? AskMen and TreSugar joined forces to find out. Here’s what the single men and women had to say in the 2012 Great Male and Great Female Surveys. You'll be surprised by some of the results.
On what makes a person “relationship material”…
Men and women like a partner who’s true. 36% of the men surveyed said loyalty is the most important trait in deciding whether someone is relationship material. 42% of women said the same. Other important qualities include intelligence, humor, and the ability to nurture and protect.
On marriage…
Here’s one that may surprise you. When asked if they believe in marriage and plan to wed someday, 70% of men said yes. The surprising part is that only 44% of women said the same. The survey also revealed that 12% of men and 36% of women do not believe in marriage at all.
On cheating…
When asked how likely they would be to cheat on a significant other if they knew their partner would never find out, the majority of men and women said not at all or not very likely (63% of men and 68% of women). However, 4% of men said they’d be very likely to cheat, and 25% of women said the same.
On weight gain and relationships…
It seems men are pickier than women about their partner’s weight. 54% of men said they would dump a girlfriend for getting fat. However, only 33% of women would show their fat boyfriend the door.
On breaking into a partner’s email or social networking accounts…
35% of men said they have never read their girlfriend’s email or social networking messages because they respect her privacy. Only 19% of women said the same about their boyfriend. Furthermore, only 6% of men have broken into a partner’s accounts, while 34% of women have done the same.
On sex life and STDs…
When asked how satisfied they were with their current sex life, most women, 27%, said they have no sex life (as compared to 22% of men). The largest percentage of men surveyed, 41%, are somewhat satisfied but says there’s room for improvement.
In somewhat alarming news, 54% of men and 29% of women said they have never been tested for an STD. Only 12% of men and 13% of women said they get tested regularly, at least once a year.
On how many sex partners is too much…
We’ve all heard about the double standard when it comes to sex partners. So what number is too many? For men, it’s more than 10 previous partners. 47% of the men surveyed said they’d be bothered by double digits (as compared to 24% of women). However, 32% of the women surveyed said they would be bothered by more than one previous partner. ???
