Do you read your daily horoscope in the newspaper or online? While there are several different types of astrology, sun sign astrology is the simplified system that is used for most "entertainment purposes only" horoscopes. However, a new study establishes that sun signs definitely have a bearing on both personality and marriage decisions.

The book The Scientific Truth about Sun and Moon Signs: Get the Facts on Their Role in Your Marriage and Personality presents a basic explanation of the research.

"It’s time to take sun signs seriously and this book will finally provide astrology enthusiasts information they can trust, and also use to improve their daily lives," says the book's author, Dr. Raj Paode.

Dr. Paode has investigated new age fields like astrology for many years. He has found that some new age claims do pass the scientific test, and can be very helpful. 

"Learning about sun sign traits will help individuals gain a better understanding of themselves, get along better with their spouse, kids and relatives, and make an improved impression on their dates," says Paode. "If your husband likes to be the center of attention it could well be because he is a Leo."

The book also lists compatible and incompatible sun signs, claiming that these are one of the factors that influence marriage. Also, knowledge of complementary signs can aid in the search for a spouse. Dr. Paode even uses celebrities as examples.

"There is a 75% higher chance of a star marrying a person from a compatible sign, and 58% lower probability of a union with an individual from an incompatible sign," states Paode. "None of Elizabeth Taylor's eight marriages was to a person from a disharmonious sign, while the number of her weddings to men with complementary signs was roughly an order of magnitude more than that predicted by chance."
