Getting a sexy stranger’s telephone number can be a daunting task, especially when the stranger is surrounded by a group of friends hanging on your every word. That’s why some singles prefer to hand out call me cards - business cards with a name, number, and quirky invitation to get in touch.

Reactions to the cards are mixed. Some people think call me invites are a great way to meet new people, especially in places where asking for a number can be awkward.

“I don't have any problems talking to people, but if I meet someone in, say, a checkout line or something, I've found that the card is almost always better-received than just flat-out asking for their number,” writes a Jezebel reader.

Other people think the cards can make a single seem like a desperate spammer.

“I would laugh if a guy handed this to me, because of the premeditation involved,” writes another reader. “I'd like to think that if someone said to me directly, "Hey, I know we just met, and this is crazy, but can I call you?" that the person is sincere or at least wasn't in the habit of asking that of strangers."

What do you think of call me cards? While I might be flattered to receive one or two, they’d lose their novelty after awhile. Plus, I wouldn’t want someone to hand me a card and then dart away. Why would I want to call a stranger I know nothing about?
