It seems that anytime a couple breaks up, both parties look for ways to “win” the breakup. Someone might try and start dating someone else quickly and flaunt the new relationship, or try and play it as cool as possible to save face. Either way, is it possible to win a breakup? In a word: yes.

While I realize that my question up there seems like a no-brainer, I’ve been kind of grappling with the idea of dating someone who is, for all intents and purposes, a nice guy, but who I’m not really that interested in. I don’t know if I am required (by decency) to cut things off, or if I should give this guy the benefit of the doubt and hang out with him a couple more times before writing him off. When do you stop dating someone when you’re unsure about how you feel?

Living in a big city, there’s plenty of men to date. Unfortunately, that also means there’s a higher concentration of ones who are not so great at being nice, upstanding human beings. Such is the case of someone I was recently seeing, who took it upon himself last week to end things via text message. Anyone I’ve discussed this with has had the same sentiment--that the guy is a jerk for doing so, but mainly because too much time had elapsed between the first date and that fateful text message. This got me to wondering how long does it remain “okay” for someone to use that format of communication to carry out so-called “break up” business?

When it comes to relationships ending, it seems like people play one of two roles: the dumper or the dumpee. It’s not unheard of to meet someone who’s never been broken up with, or who has never broken up with someone. It’s interesting to see the divide between who ends relationships for whatever reason, but we thought we’d delve into the advantages (and disadvantages) of being either.

Getting broken up with sucks, but there are certain ways that people can do it to really twist the knife. We hope you never have to deal with these, so here are our top five worst ways people could break up with you.

5)On a bridge.
You might not often be on bridges, but wouldn’t it suck to be on one when someone breaks up with you? What about one without guardrails? You already feel down, and now there’s something to jump off of right in front of you. Not fun.
